A knee jerk reaction to this question would probably be ‘No’.
I’ve come across a few experiences from landlords that say different…….
If you allow tenants with pets into your rental properties, the tenants do not need to lie, they can be upfront and you can take a pet deposit, so any damage etc can be paid for from the deposit.
If you allow tenants with pets, you can make available your property to a larger market of tenants, as there are so many landlords that do not allow pets and those tenants need to live somewhere.
If you allow tenants with pets, maybe your property is close by to an open park where you can walk your dogs, so that will be a good catchment for those tenants, so you may also be able to demand a higher rental income.
Ive found a good blog website that has covered alot of areas on pets and tenants, listing the pro’s and con’s, I think for you landlords out there, it is a personal decision and if you are a pet lover then the chances are you will allow it. http://bit.ly/RMvli1
As a nation of pet lovers, maybe it is time to be more lenient to our tenant pet lovers?? http://bit.ly/1eGMR7W
