First Tenant to win Bedroom Tax tribunal appeal.
Is it just a ruthless form of housing policy. Social housing tenants daring to have a spare room have been left with the choice of ‘move out of your home’ or have their housing benefits cut.
The government have the power, through the Welfare Reform Act 2012, to reduce benefits if you are living in a council or housing accommodation with a spare bedroom.

Fife Council’s decision to cut the benefit of Annie Harrower-Gray was upheld by a tribunal in Scotland following a hearing on 26th August 2013. Her benefit was cut, based on the basis that she was living alone in a 3 bed property, owned by Kingdom Housing Association. The tribunal found that the property only has one bedroom.
